Tariffville Historic House/Village Tour.

Come join the Tariffvillle Historic House and Village tour on Sunday June 2, 1-6pm as part of the 350th Anniversary Celebrations of the town in 2020. The tour's ticket/booklet enables you to start at any point on the 9 property tour, which includes a Mill worker's home, a Mill manger's home, a Victorian, a Carpenter Gothic, the fascinating Mill with all of its history and power generation, Trinity Church, the school with a history of school houses and the video "The Tariffville Train Wreck", the town Green and Main Street, Marcos, and ending with Music from America's song book at the Cracker Barrel at 6:00. Other points of interest are also pointed out.

Tickets are $25 on line from the Simsbury Historical Society's website or museum store at 10 Phelps Lane, or $30 on the day of the tour sold at Tariffville School, Trinity church and the Mill.

A Summer Doll Tea

Bring your favorite doll or stuffed animal for a tea party in the Phelps Tavern Tea Room. Each attendee will receive a bag with two salt flour dough petit fours and a napkin, to be used with the doll or stuffed animal brought by the guest.  The salt flour dough is nontoxic and the bag of pretend food is to be taken home afterward. The tea will also include special tea sandwiches, tea and lemonade as well as sweet treats. Gluten-free choices will be provided but please let us know when registering for the event.

Adults: $20; Children $15.

Opening of the “From the Forest” exhibit of Native American crafts made from porcupine quills and bark, opening of the Wigwam exhibit of Native American domestic life, carving exhibit in the Phelps Barn highlighting an eagle being carved in cherry wood for Simsbury’s 350th celebration in 2020, and silent auction in the Fuse Manufactory.
