Peter and Esther Jackson Memorial Ceremony, Dedication, and Reception

Please join us in recognizing the contributions and sacrifices of the Jacksons, an African American family deeply connected to Simsbury, the Revolutionary War, and the Civil War.  John Mills from the Alex Breanne Corporation will unveil a monument honoring the Jackson family at the Simsbury Cemetery on Juneteenth. The ceremony will begin at Eno Memorial Hall. Guests will walk to the cemetery and are invited to return to Eno Memorial Hall for a reception sponsored by the Simsbury Historical Society afterwards. Officials from the Town of Simsbury and state governement will be in attendance, in addition to several special guests.

Historic House Preservation

Meet architectural historians from Preservation Connecticut at this informative and interesting presentation. Learn what makes a house “historic” and how to identify and preserve defining features of your historic home. Discover ways to preserve your home for future generations to enjoy. Bring your questions for the experts from Preservation Connecticut!

Reception and Charitable Event at Abigail’s Grille and Wine Bar

Join us at an enjoyable charitable event to benefit the White Memorial Fountain Fund. The Simsbury Historical Society is restoring the flow of water to this magnificent monument, dedicated in 1898 to the memory of Dr. Roderick White.  For each $100 donation, supporters are eligible to receive one admission ticket to a cocktail reception with hors d’oeuvres hosted and sponsored by Abigail’s Grille and Wine Bar. The reception will be held on the outdoor patio within sight of the fountain. Read more>>>

The Farmington River Archeology Project: 12,000 Years of Native History

New date! Kenneth L. Feder, professor emeritus of anthropology at Central Connecticut State University and author of several books, is the founder and director of the Farmington River Archeology Project. He and his crew have revealed remains of the villages, hunting encampments, and quarries used by inhabitants of the Farmington River Valley 12,000 years ago. This presentation is co-sponsored and funded by the Lower Farmington River and Salmon Brook Wild and Scenic Committee.
